Super Bowl Sunday – Food for the Win

Tonight you may be cheering for the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons, but the super bowl truly takes the trophy on food. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it’s the second-largest day for American food consumption.

On a college campus, super bowl parties may look at little different but always involve food. Whether a group of friends are joining you in your dorm room, you’re heading to a friend’s apartment, or your Greek house is hosting a Super Bowl Party food will likely be involved. CNBC posted a list of ways you can watch the game and enjoy good food without breaking the bank.

Here are a couple of my favorites for the Purdue students spending their Super Bowl Sunday in West Lafayette.

  • Papa John’s: Get 40% off all online orders through Feb. 12 using coupon code SAVE6
  • McDonald’s: Get a 40-piece Chicken McNuggets for $7.99 delivered on Super Bowl Sunday if you use the UberEATS app
  • TGI Fridays: Fridays now accepts orders via Twitter, and to celebrate the Super Bowl, the restaurant will offer an appetizer for one penny to anyone who tweets a football emoji at @TGIFridays on Feb. 5

Pizza, chicken, nachos, and more. According to the National Restaurant Association, this Sunday is the busiest day of the year for pizza. In addition, Americans are set to eat 1.33 billion chicken wings over the Super Bowl weekend, according to the National Chicken Council’s annual report.

With these deals, it’s guaranteed that any “broke college student” can enjoy great food while watching the Patriots and the Falcons in the Super Bowl tonight.
