As the Purdue Grand Prix week comes to a close it comes at no surprise that students are a bit tired after an action filled week. From the Moonlight Pancake Breakfast to a crazy Cactus Thursday and an early morning for Breakfast Club to the 60th Purdue Grand Prix Race, students truly embraced the beautiful weather in addition to evenings at the bars throughout this eventful week.
This week, as my friends and I migrated from bar to bar I recognized that all of the bars offer more than just beer. I don’t mean in terms of alcohol, but rather in food. Here are some of my favorites that the campus bars offer:
Harry’s Chocolate Shop – I highly recommend the Black and Bleu Salad with Harry’s Chips, paired with a John Daily. The salad consists of charbroiled steak, bleu cheese, bacon, tomatoes and onions on a bed of lettuce. Harry’s opens at 11 a.m. and is a great place to have a business meeting or lunch/dinner with friends after your classes end.
308 on State – Taco Tuesday’s at 308 comes with great reviews. Fun fact, they deliver but on Tuesday they have a great deal in house. $1 tacos, $2 tequila shots and $3 margaritas, how can you beat that? One of my classmates did a review a few weeks ago and loved her experience with friends.
Brother’s – Enjoy a late night dinner and celebrate Wednesday Wing Night with friends. All of the wings are 25 cents and they offer Buffalo, Spicy Garlic and Sweet BBQ flavors. They start serving wings at 9 p.m. and go until they are all gone.
Jake’s Roadhouse & Garage – First and foremost, on the weekend they serve free hotdogs. But they also offer delivery service through Hungry Boiler! Additionally, each week they do Euchre night on Tuesday and Trivia on Wednesday.
With two weeks left of the spring semester, I’d highly encourage you to check out some of these hotspots on Chauncey and accompany your beer at the bar with some tasty food or have Hungry Boiler bring the food right to you while studying.
